The 2nd QTR of the 2026 year ending June 30th was a positive period for TAMA members with YTD new tractor deliveries sitting 10.7% ahead of last year at 1386 units. This quarter has been one of building momentum over each month resulting in good deliveries vs last year. This steady performance is a manifestation of the positive vibe being experienced right now in the primary sector, which continues to be the heartbeat of the country’s economy.
June tractor deliveries at 274 units was a strong result, ahead of last year’s 231 – a 18.6% jump forward. The positive primary sector outlook certainly seems to have converted from a sentiment into something real as the flow of funds from the primary sector moves through farmers and growers and into regional and local economies across the motu. This last quarter has seen a consistency of orders and deliveries in new tractors and machinery which has come off the back of a real focus and committed approach in sales lead discussions over a long period of time. This consistency is welcome news for TAMA members who can now look to planning their inventory management and forward order projections with a bit more confidence. With the continued strong dairy performance, growth in beef and lamb value and wool after a decade lagging behind now breaking over $6/kg greasy, providing some much-needed solid returns to Farmers and Growers’ things are well positioned for all in the primary sector and TAMA members.
The June QTR result was solid across both Islands with both ahead of last year by 7.5% for the North, and a strong 16.6% for the South. The engine room for deliveries in terms of HP category in the North was dominated by 100-150HP and 150-200HP at 33.8% and 60% respectively ahead of last year, whilst in the South it was 40-100 HP and 100-150HP at 250% and 35.9% ahead of last year.
Overall, from a rolling 12-month perspective, total deliveries sitting at 3,222 vs the same period last year of 2,928 is very encouraging. Off the back of this QTR performance, TAMA members will have a lift in their step heading into their biennial conference in Napier in August.
